I made my first butsudan sometime in the early
1980's. It was very special to me to make the home for my own gohonzon.
Several years went by during which my woodworking skills grew and I moved from
apartment into my own home. Then in 2001, I remembered that first butsudan.
I decided it was time to make that dream a reality. I designed a butsudan
with clean, simple lines, beautiful wood, hinged top for easy access. I
wanted a butsudan that was bright and open, beautiful and inspiring, like the
Gohonzon. Since then I have had the great pleasure and honor to make over
forty butsudans. Each butsudan is custom made, receiving the same love and
attention to detail that I would give to my own butsudan.
